Good news from Soweto, Johannesburg

Soweto Women’s Day 2007

Our Women’s Day event this year, held on 9th August, was not like any other Women’s Day that our region has held before.  It was a particularly memorable moment for all in attendance as we had our first ALL NATIONS outreach campaign.

We are a predominantly a black region. We took a leap of faith and were confident that God would meet our desire to see Whites, Coloureds, Indians, Chinese, etc attending this year’s event.

Our theme “Unbreakable Boundaries” was to help women from all backgrounds and ages to understand and identify their boundaries, to stay within their boundaries and to be able to differentiate between breakable and unbreakable boundaries.  The speakers outdid themselves and they blended together in an amazing way.  Angie Chan, a Chinese sister, spoke about knowing your boundaries whereas Maxine Kotane, a Black sister, preached about staying within your boundaries.  Finally, Irene Renton, a White sister, closed the day with a lesson on breakable and unbreakable boundaries.  The response cards clearly indicated that the women were not only spiritually well fed, but were left longing for more.

Visiting friends and family outnumbered the members of the region in attendance.  This is what we had so desperately prayed for – and to God alone be the glory!  We are now expecting fruit that will last as since the Women’s Day event, many women have been bringing their husbands to church and studying the Bible together.
