Two brothers from Zimbabwe express appreciation for the medical assistance they received

In August last year, Tariro Arthur Ruwona (36), a disciple in the Harare International Church of Christ, was diagnosed with acquired rheumatic heart disease and needed urgent open-heart surgery. Through the generosity of disciples around the world, funds were raised and he was able to travel to India in December and had two valves replaced at the BLK Hospital in New Delhi, three days before Christmas.

Tariro, a husband and father-of-two young children, wrote this letter of appreciation:

"I want to say I am doing much better. I am still recovering from the operation but my health has turned out to be much better now. All the pain I was going through is gone and I'm already back at work.

I'd like to express my heartfelt appreciation to my family of disciples across the world for helping me. My family and I are so grateful and we cannot thank each and every disciple enough who gave to me in my time of need. May the Lord bless you all.

My case has become a great testimony of love and togetherness of the disciples of Christ. The gesture has touched many lives in my biological family as well.

Thank you all. God bless you. May the love of Christ continue to be with us everywhere we are. I love you. Take care."

Your brother in Christ,

Tariro. A. Ruwona

2 Corinthians 9:11-12 You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God. This service you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord's people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.

Nkosilathi Dube (36), a husband and father of two young girls was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease in July 2017 and needed dialysis or a kidney transplant. He was told of possible treatment in India and once again, disciples in various places around the world, rallied to raise the funds needed for him to travel to the Asian subcontinent.

He explains what happened:

"I'd like to thank the church who helped fund me and everyone who prayed, fasted and contributed something. You have shown me the greatest and fullest extent of your love.

On arrival in India, I underwent a full medical examination and the doctors explained that both my kidneys were permanently damaged and couldn't be treated. Learning that this condition had progressed severely was distressing.

I went through a roller coaster of feelings. One moment I accepted it and the next I felt angry. I thought of how I would cope with this chronic illness and tried to figure out how I was going to adjust my aspirations, lifestyle and expensive diet.

I wish to thank the churches, in and outside Zimbabwe, who were praying as well as raising money in support. I do appreciate all the help and emotional support I received and continue to receive. You have shown my family kindness and this has strengthened us. I truly value all the sacrifices that came out of your concern for me.

I am on prescribed medication and a strict vegetarian diet. My blood pressure is up and down. I still experience some of the symptoms I experienced before my trip to India but know that God is in control of my life. Please continue to pray for me.

May God richly bless every one of you."

Your brother in Christ,

Nkosilathi Dube
